CYBC currently operates throughout the year with varied hours for the school year and summer seasons:
While school (CPS) is in session, we are open from 2pm - 8pm Monday through Friday and Satrudays from 8:00am - 1:00pm (women only). During the summer we have extended hours from 12pm - 7pm Monday through Friday.
Coach - Mentorship
CYBC’s Coach Mentor relationship model incorporates violence prevention by teaching youth the fundamentals of physical conditioning, discipline, boxing technique and teamwork. We work hard to instill a strong work ethic through partnership with our After School Matters program - a Chicago Public High School initiative that empowers teens to explore and develop their talents while gaining critical skills for work, higher education and beyond.
Health & Wellness
CYBC’s Health and Wellness program engages youth through 1:1 coach-mentor nutrition training sessions that help them plan and practice healthy nutrition that are appropriate for their age and fitness goals. We address health deficiencies through a two-fold approach that includes increasing the frequency and quality of physical activity among youth and families as well as nutritional education. Youth receive ongoing guidance to help maintain a well-rounded diet to promote health. They are taught to make lifestyle connections that will lead to improved conditioning, strength and overall health.
CYBC’s Mental Wellness program includes classes that teach stress and anxiety management and amplifies awareness of social identity and the intersection of cultural influence needed to propagate healthy behavior. Since programming has proven to increase youth wellness and even reduce negative behavioral patterns, CYBC will continue its research on how to help youth develop positive outlooks on their lives and work to incorporate its findings as appropriate. Because we know that middle-school aged youth are at a crucial point where they are developing personal identities and creating early patterns for adulthood, CYBC has been analyzing methods that promote effective mental health services, focusing on quantitative measures that indicate emotional development for adolescents.
